Jesse Marsch has told Wednesday’s press conference – as per Leeds Live – that new signing Darko Gyabi is integrating himself well within the squad at Leeds United, and his teammates are already well aware of his quality.
Gyabi, 18, has joined Leeds for a fee of £5million from Manchester City. The move was separate to Kalvin Phillips going in the opposite direction, but was clearly a part of negotiations given the two deals were announced on the same day.
The youngster did not feature against Aston Villa in Australia, but did make a substitute appearance against Brisbane Roar. He impressed during his first Leeds outing. The focus will be making his debut for Leeds, competitively.

Asked about his new signings, Marsch spoke of the five senior players he has brought in – in Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, Luis Sinisterra, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen. But he also give his take on Gyabi’s first days at Leeds.
“Darko Gyabi is also getting more and more integrated and he’s a young player. It’s not always easy for 18-year-olds to step right into a team but I think everybody sees his quality and his personality,” Marsch said.
Marsch: Gyabi integrating well at Leeds
If his first outing against A-League side Brisbane Roar was anything to go by, Gyabi will be a real find for Leeds. Yes, the unproven teen has cost a lot at £5million from Manchester City, but he is a proper talent with real promise.
Leeds will likely use Gyabi in the Under-21 side next season, at least to begin with. The Whites do have plenty of competition in midfield – Adams, Roca, Adam Forshaw, Archie Gray and Stuart Dallas.
Sam Greenwood can play there, too. But Gyabi is impressing both behind closed doors, and when given the chance in the senior side. By the end of the season, he could be a really important part of the first team.
