Jurgen Klopp has stated that criticism of Darwin Nunez after two pre-season games for Liverpool made ‘no sense’, as he told Sky Sports.
Prior to his four goals against RB Leipzig, the 23-year-old was still warming up his engine in Liverpool colours, only to find rival fans making compilation videos mocking his performances.
That’s the childish nature of social media for you, even Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will be mocked in that manner, despite being two of the greatest of their generation.

Just like fans shouldn’t have read too much into Nunez’s opening games, they also shouldn’t read too much into his four goals against Leipzig, all that matters is that he is getting used to his new environment, improving and what he does next season.
Nonetheless, when talking about Nunez’s pre-season so far, Klopp labelled it a ‘crazy world’ when talking about what his summer signing faced during his early weeks.
“The group is the best group I ever saw to help players settle,” said Klopp. “It was always clear that, in a situation like this, a striker with his skill set will need time because it’s different to what we had before.
“We play differently to Benfica. Both sides have to adapt. Then, he didn’t score in the first two games and we face discussions. That’s a crazy world out there.
“Then, he scores four goals in a game and we discuss it completely the other way around. We need time to get used to each other. It’s fine. How can we expect after a week that we or he would be at his best? It makes no sense. It’s like a game out there.”

HAALAND OR NUNEZ?
Liverpool and Manchester City will be expected to be the top two again next season, after their final day drama in the Premier League last time out.
Both have two new faces leading their line, with Pep Guardiola bringing the talents of Erling Haaland to England’s top-flight.
But who will score more goals between the two summer signings? And, most importantly, who can have the bigger impact on their team?
It’s all about the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy for these two sides and if either of the clubs’ new signings can push them over that line, then it will be a big thumbs up.
