Dario Osorio should stay and continue to hone his talents in Chile before sealing a £4 million move to Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers, former Universidad de Chile ace Juan Leiva tells El Mercurio.
Remember the case of Angelo Araos? Of course you don’t. Araos is hardly a household name this side of the Atlantic after all.
But, over in Chile, the 25-year-old’s story represents a cautionary tale for other fresh-faced youngsters attracting interest from abroad. Aroas left Universidad de Chile for Brazilian giants Corinthians when he was just 21 but his development plateaued in somewhat choppier, more unforgiving waters. If he could turn back the clock, one suspects Araos wouldn’t have been so quick to depart.
Teenager Osorio should keep this in mind, Leiva says, when weighing up whether or not to embark on a new adventure away from Los Azules.
“Dario Osorio is an atypical player with many different qualities,” says the one-time Universidad midfielder, via Bolavip. “The ideal situation for him would be to consolidate himself first in Chile before going abroad.
“He has continuity at his club. That will make him grow even more. Hopefully we can enjoy him for a while longer.”

According to TNT Sport, Wolves have agreed a £4 million fee with Universidad. And Osorio, who has been likened to Angel di Maria and already has a couple of caps for the Chilean national team, admitted a couple of days ago that he feels ‘ready’ for a seven-figure switch to Europe.
“Sometimes the rush for money leads a young player to leave,” Leiva adds. “Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Look what happened to Angelo Araos.”
Wolves, at least, could offer Osorio access to the kind of first team football that may prove to be out of his reach at fellow suitors Manchester City and Real Madrid.
“I find Dario to be a very good player. I see very good things in him,” says Universidad team-mate Emmanuel Ojeda. “When there is an opportunity to go (to Europe), you have to do it. I didn’t, and later you regret it. You have to look for other experiences.
“He is a very good player. A gem. If he has to go, we will miss him. But it is what he has to do.”
