Rangers are set to sign Ridvan Yilmaz with boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst expecting the Besiktas talent to arrive at Ibrox very soon.
Rangers sold Calvin Bassey to Ajax last week, raking in huge money for the talented Nigerian international.
Bassey offered great versatility to Rangers; he could play a left back and left-sided centre back with real quality.
Ben Davies has arrived from Liverpool as a left-sided centre back, but Rangers would still need another left back to challenge Borna Barisic.
Rangers are set to sign Ridvan Yilmaz
It has become clear that Rangers’ top left back target is Besiktas talent Yilmaz.
Reports emerged from the Daily Mail just a matter of days ago, suggesting that Rangers are targeting Yilmaz.
The Athletic now suggest that Yilmaz is set on signing for Rangers in a deal worth around £6million.
There is interest in YIlmaz from teams in Italy and Germany but he is now expected to join Rangers very soon.
Yilmaz, 21, is one of the top young talents in Turkish football and already has six caps for his country.
A speedy and attack-minded left back, Yilmaz racked up three goals and four assists in 27 Super Lig games last season.

Given the question marks over Barisic’s long-term future at Rangers, Yilmaz could now become the left back of the future at Ibrox.
Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has now been quoted by the Daily Record as saying that a player is heading to Ibrox very soon.
Van Bronckhorst didn’t deny that Yilmaz is that player and noted that the move for the Turkish ace is ‘well stated’ in the media.
The Dutchman feels that Yilmaz may be Rangers’ final signing of the window providing nobody leaves, with a belief that the Gers will be done and dusted in a few days.
“It’s well stated in the press about him,” said Van Bronckhorst. “I won’t lie, we hope we add a new player in the coming days, and we finish with the window if no-one goes. The player coming in is young and hopefully a player we can develop the same way as Calvin (Bassey) who is a good example, and Nathan Patterson (too),” he added.
