Jose Enrique has urged Liverpool to hand new deals to Naby Kieta and Roberto Firmino, after Diogo Jota penned down a new contract at the Premier League club, as he posted on Twitter.

On Tuesday, Liverpool announced on their website that Jota has secured a new long-term contract, after signing for the club from Wolves in 2020.

The 25-year-old struck an impressive 15 Premier League goals last season, and with the arrival of Darwin Nunez this summer, he has some much-needed competition for that forward role.

But the player that could start ahead of those two on Saturday against Fulham is the old pro, Firmino, who produced an outstanding display during the Community Sheild win against Manchester City over the weekend.

The Brazil international has 12 months remaining on his current deal and there have been talks that Juventus are keen to sign him this summer.

Whilst Keita hasn’t been a regular like Firmino over the years, his contract also runs out next summer and he could leave on a free transfer.

As a result, Enrique wants the duo to join Jota in extending their stay on Merseyside, with Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp also doing just that in recent times.

I really hope so he deserve it and he wants to stay as well https://t.co/ebwIJWxGzS— José enrique (@Jesanchez3) August 2, 2022

I believe Keita still in one year left too? I will renew Keita is contract because we don’t want him to go on a free https://t.co/y7TzJtoA26— José enrique (@Jesanchez3) August 2, 2022

WILL KEITA AND FIRMINO LEAVE ON A FREE?

Despite rumours swirling around, it doesn’t seem as though Kieta or Firmino will be going anywhere this summer.

Therefore, will they sign new contracts during these coming months or leave the club on a free next summer because that’s the road they are going down so far?

In truth, even if they are going to leave, Liverpool are still better off extending their stay because they can then secure a transfer fee for the player.

For someone like Keita, the Anfield faithful would probably be happy to see him leave and then have someone like Jude Bellingham be added as a replacement.

The England international is a dream signing for the Liverpool supporters, but it seems as though they will have to wait for all that drama next summer.
