Lee Hendrie has told Sky Sports that Carney Chukwuemeka should reject all interest shown from Arsenal, Newcastle United, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain and stay at Aston Villa.
Chukwuemeka has become the focus of heightened speculation of late after The Telegraph reported he had rejected a new contract. The 18-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his existing terms, and could move clubs next summer for only £400k in compensation.

Aston Villa value the wonderkid at £20m, although none of his vast array of suitors have so far shown any willingness to pay such a fee. The Villa Park hierarchy believe Chukwuemeka is worth so much as he helped England win the European U19 championship this summer.

Steven Gerrard also awarded Chukwuemeka a number of senior chances at Villa Park last season. The central midfielder made 12 of his 16 career first-team appearances during the Premier League campaign, and also offered a maiden assist to help beat Norwich City 2-0.
Arsenal, Newcastle interested in Chukwuemeka amid Aston Villa uncertainty
Arsenal have been scouting Chukwuemeka throughout 2022 with Mikel Arteta interested in signing the Aston Villa product, per the Evening Standard. Barcelona have also tracked his situation for months, per Sport, while 90min have cited interest shown by Newcastle, too.
Paris Saint-Germain have started showing an interest in Chukwuemeka, as well, according to the Mirror. While The Athletic add Serie A champions AC Milan admire the teen talent, who Graeme Bailey claims both Arsenal and Newcastle believe could start at their clubs.

Hendrie, however, believes Chukwuemeka risks making a huge mistake by leaving Aston Villa and should overlook interest from Arsenal, Newcastle and some of Europe’s biggest clubs to focus on getting regular first-team minutes and learning from a great in Gerrard.
“I’m shocked that Carney Chukwuemeka doesn’t want to sign a new deal at Aston Villa,” Hendrie said. “There’s no hiding the fact he’s got a fantastic manager in Steven Gerrard, who will certainly nurture him. He has given him the belief.
“But sometimes these youngsters get side-tracked by people telling them they could go to bigger clubs. He hasn’t proved himself, for me. How many times do we see these young lads go off to so-called bigger clubs and not really get the opportunity and fizzle away?
“I think he has got to really think about what he is doing and make the right choice. In my mind, that means staying at Villa Park.”
Gerrard will have to convince Chukwuemeka that he will earn the minutes Hendrie states are crucial for the teen to commit to Aston Villa with Arsenal, Newcastle et al interested.
