It’s official. Fans will be able to get their own Gengar Squishmallow as The Pokémon Co. announced its upcoming collaboration at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
Ahead of the San Diego Comic-Con, The Pokemon Company announced it would be releasing a line of merch in collaboration with Squishmallow.
Pokémon Squishmallow collaboration
On Twitter, both companies shared a video teasing the iconic Pokémon, Pikachu, in Squishmallow form, while announcing it would be debuted at the comic convention, which runs from July 21 to 24.

Since posting, the original Squishmallow announcement has received over 7,400 likes, almost 400 comments and over 2,000 retweets and quote tweets. So it’s safe to say fans were pretty stoked with the news.
One fan even stated this is what they’d been ‘dreaming’ of and supplied the company with a set of fan-concept drawings for more Pokémon Squishmallows. What they didn’t know is they were way ahead of us all.

Ahead of the beginning of the Comic-Con Aaron Margolin, Pokémon global band manager at Jazwares, shared the tweet fans had been waiting for – there will be a Gengar Squishmallow.
Aaron shared a picture of the Squishmallow and Pokémon collaboration display at the convention, revealing the ghost Pokémon would also be featuring in the collab alongside Pikachu.

“The entire team put so much work into this collaboration, but a major shoutout goes to plush designer Joanne Shin who designed both Pikachu and Gengar!”

What is a Squishmallow?
While we’ve all probably at least heard of Pokemon – or even indulged in the franchise since we first got our hands on a GameBoy in the 90s – if you don’t know what a Squishmallow is, we’ve got you covered.
A Squishmallow is a soft and squishy plush known for being absolutely adorable versions of your favourite characters, or original characters.
The brand was first released in 2017 by Kelly Toys Holdings LLC and, since then, has created over 1,000 characters of varying sizes.
