Speaking on the Transfer Talk Podcast, Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has been discussing Newcastle’s hunt for a new striker.

As many Newcastle fans will know, the Magpies are in the market for a new number nine this summer. They’ve been linked with the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but, as of yet, they’ve struggled to make any real headway on this front.

Two further players that are on Newcastle’s transfer radar are Gianluca Scamacca and Armando Broja, but unfortunately for the Magpies, West Ham are also in for both players.

However, with the Hammers now looking more likely to go for Broja, Graves has suggested that a move for Scamacca could be on the cards if the transfer for Broja goes ahead.

What’s been said?

Graves spoke about Scamacca and Broja.

“They desperately need a striker, a young striker who could play second-fiddle to Callum Wilson. There are players on the list. Funny you mention West Ham, Broja, there was an interest there and Scamacca was another one in Italy, I wonder if West Ham sign one of those if Newcastle go for the other one, that will be fascinating to see,” Graves said.

Great option

Scamacca could be the striker that Newcastle eventually move for, and he’d be a great option for the Tyneside club.

The Italian is, much like Calvert-Lewin and Isak, a very rangy forward, but he also has an incredibly venomous shot and a really unorthodox style of play.

It’s hard to watch Scamacca and not be reminded of a young Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and if Newcastle brought him in, they would be getting a seriously talented player.

An Italy international who scored 16 Serie A goals last term, Scamacca is a star in the making.
