Everton wanted Tino Anjorin but the Chelsea talent has now made a return to Championship side Huddersfield Town instead.
The Toffees really need to get new faces in the door; their only signing so far this summer is defender James Tarkowski.
It may only be pre-season, but the 4-0 defeat to Minnesota United has left Everton fans panicking about the season ahead.
Frank Lampard needs additions quickly but one alleged target now looks set to join a Championship club instead of Everton.
Everton wanted Tino Anjorin
90Min reported earlier this month that Everton were interested in signing Chelsea talent Tino Anjorin.
Lampard worked with Anjorin at Chelsea and even gave him his first-team debut, so a reunion made some kind of sense.
Anjorin, 20, was allegedly interested in making the move to Everton as they considered him as an alternative to Morgan Gibbs-White.
Everton have been seeking an attack-minded midfielder and Anjorin seemed like a realistic target.
Chelsea wanted a loan whereas Everton were chasing a permanent move, and that may be a reason why the Toffees have missed out.

Championship side Huddersfield Town have swooped in to sign Anjorin on loan for the entirety of the 2022-23 season.
Anjorin spent the second half of last season on loan at Huddersfield, registering just one goal in seven Championship appearances.
That came after a loan spell at Lokomotiv Moscow, with Chelsea maybe now feeling that Anjorin is better off with some continuity.
Anjorin will now be spending another year with Huddersfield and will be looking to settle down, play games and hit top form before heading back to Chelsea in 2023.
Everton may well keep tabs on Anjorin’s progress at Huddersfield but for this summer, his name can be crossed off the list of potential signings.
