Fans don’t have long to wait until they can settle the debate definitively.

What’s better… Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul? We’re fast approaching the finale of the prequel and spin-off to one of the most championed achievements in the history of television.

There are already plenty of fans who would argue that Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s recent prequel is superior to its predecessor. However, those leaning towards the other end of the argument may have found season 6 episode 9 the most exciting instalment to date.

Toward the end of the episode, we find ourselves transitioning out of the events of Better Call Saul and into the Breaking Bad era of events. We’re presented with a very different version of Jimmy, fully transformed into the materialistic Saul Goodman. There were a lot of details to take in towards the end and a number of questions have emerged accordingly.

Namely, does Brookner Partners feature in Breaking Bad?

Does Brookner Partners feature in Breaking Bad?

No, Brookner Partners does not explicitly feature in Breaking Bad.

Looking back over the events of Fun and Games, the law firm Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill – often referred to simply as HHM – has taken a serious hit as a result of Kim and Jimmy’s wild actions against Howard Hamlin.

In the wake of Howard’s tragic passing and the sabotage of his image before his disappearance, HHM faces a dilemma and those at the top are encouraged to try and move past everything that has threatened the firm.

After the memorial for Howard, Richard Schweikart tells Jimmy and Kim that HHM is going to downsize and change the name of the company to Brookner Partners. It’s a clear attempt to salvage the firm’s previously glowing reputation while severing ties with what it’s become more recently.

After all, the association with Howard’s rumoured demise and drug use would remain if the name of the firm was still HHM. Essentially, the change of name marks the end of an era and a new beginning, further illustrated by Kim’s confession and separation from Jimmy at the end of the episode.

Not only that, but the disappearance of the HHM name shows just how dangerous Jimmy and Kim can be as a team. They essentially took Howard and Chuck down so badly that they’re now both dead and HHM no longer technically exists.

Breaking Bad fans have a theory

Although the law firm doesn’t play a role in Breaking Bad, some fans have speculated as to whether Skyler White went with a divorce attorney from Brookner Partners when divorcing Walter.

Audiences have suggested this possible connection on Twitter while others have simply reacted to the tragedy of the HHM being a thing of the past.

Check out a selection of tweets:

‘I’m just in the way’

Turning our thoughts to Howard, actor Patrick Fabian was asked to offer his thoughts about Lalo’s reason for killing Howard.

“Oh, I’m just in the way,” he told Vanity Fair. “

“At this point, Lalo’s singular focus is about Fring, as far as I can tell. He already sees that I’m a problem, no matter what. So I’m just disposable. I’m a fly. He needs to talk to Jimmy and Kim right now. Who’s this guy? Get out of the way. And I think it probably also works as an intimidation factor.”

Better Call Saul season 6 will be made up of 13 episodes in total, so there’s still some time to go before we bid farewell to one of the finest shows in recent memory.
