David Seaman has told his Seaman Says podcast that Leeds United have got to go into the transfer market and bring in a striker to provide cover for Patrick Bamford, after the England striker suffered another injury on Saturday.

Bamford, 28, managed just 10 senior appearances for Leeds last season due to ankle and hamstring issues. He managed a full pre-season, and has started both Premier League matches. But he came off after 28 minutes.

While it is not deemed a serious injury, and it may have been precaution given his previous injuries – Leeds need cover. They tried to sign Belgium international Charles De Ketelaere, but he went to Serie A champions AC Milan.

Arnaud Kalimuendo was also a target, but he has gone to French side Rennes from PSG. Joe Gelhardt was missing from the entire squad on Saturday, but Rodrigo got a brace and now has three goals in two games. He is likely to cover.

However, Seaman – who is a renowned Leeds fan and began his career with the Whites before Arsenal – believes Leeds need more cover. He has ordered the Whites to bring in a striker and do something about Bamford’s latest injury.

“For Leeds, I still feel they need to do a little bit more business, especially with Bamford now, he got injured again. We saw that he was a massive miss last season, so maybe they need to go in and do something about that,” Seaman said.

Seaman: Leeds have got to bring in a striker

The Whites have reiterated that while they are happy with their current business, they are still in the market. They would be accepting of the work they have done, even after losing both Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips this summer.

They have brought in Marc Roca and Tyler Adams as replacements for Phillips. The two are combining well in midfield. Luis Sinisterra is back from injury as Raphinha’s replacement. They have signed Rasmus Kristensen at right-back.

Brenden Aaronson looks a real talent in the no.10 role, and Darko Gyabi is an exciting addition at Under-23 level. Sonny Perkins and Joel Robles have also come in. But Leeds do need a striker, and possibly even a left-back.
