Speaking on the Arsenal Analysed YouTube channel, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing the Gunners’ interest in Leroy Sane.

Arsenal have been linked to Sane as of late, but according to Jacobs, their interest in the German is historical rather active.

Indeed, Jacobs says that Sane was a player that Arsenal looked at before their failed move for Raphinha, and while they could revisit this transfer, it will be a difficult one.

What’s been said?

Jacobs shared what he knows about Sane.

“To give you the full context the Sane interest came before Raphinha. That’s really importat because he tells you that he is a name on their list in that position and it shows you that Arsenal are exploring that particular position. They could revisit it again during the window, but the reality is that Sane is very difficult to get, there has been interest from Real Madrid, but Bayern’s stance is that they would ideally keep the player,” Jacobs said.

“With Sane there would also be a price issue as well, Bayern’s position, as I understand it, is that they don’t want to sell him and if they were to listen to offers it would be above what they paid for him, which was £55m from Manchester City, so you’re looking at a large transfer fee from a club that doesn’t want to sell.”

Unlikely

Bayern Munich don’t want to sell Leroy Sane, and while a move isn’t impossible, a move to Arsenal is extremely unlikely.

With all due respect to the Gunners, they can’t offer Champions League football and a move to the Emirates for the 26-year-old would be a step backwards.

Yes, he’s worked with Mikel Arteta before, so that could be tempting, but if the likes of Real Madrid are keen, he’ll surely find a more appetising move to a club ready to challenge for top honours as soon as possible.

Sane would be a great signing for Arsenal, but sadly, it’s a very unlikely one.
