Justin Osagie has been pictured in a Celtic shirt as the teenager reportedly seals a move away from Premier League giants West Ham United, via Fraser Fletcher’s official Twitter page.

One year after Armstrong Okoflex swapped Glasgow for London, it seems that Osagie is moving in the other direction. Whether that proves to be the right decision, however, is anyone’s guess.

As Okoflex will tell you, first-team opportunities are not overly easy to come by at a Celtic side where success is not merely hoped for but expected. The one-time Arsenal starlet is far from the only fresh-faced youngster to grow tired of life on the Parkhead sidelines in recent months.

St Mirren’s Dylan Reid even turned down the Premiership champions last week, opting to stay at Paisley even after Celtic had seen a £125,000 bid accepted.

On the other side of the coin, the Hoops do a coach renowned across the game for his ability to turn potential into greatness. Just look at the strides made by Felipe Jota, Anthony Ralston, Liel Abada and co during Ange Postecoglou’s outstanding debut campaign in Glasgow’s East End.

Dane Murray, Joey Dawson, Owen Moffat and Ben Doak also received first-team opportunities during 2021/22.

Justin Osagie leaving West Ham for Celtic

17-year-old Osagie will be hoping to follow in their footsteps.

The versatile central defender/midfielder appears to have sealed his move north of the border. He was posing for photos, seemingly on Monday, in a green-and-white kit with number 45 on the back.

“Exclusive; Done deal. Celtic have signed highly-rated talent Justin Osagie from West Ham,” Fletcher, who has worked for BBC Scotland, writes on Twitter.

“The 17-year-old joins on a permanent deal from the Hammers.”

Osagie’s cultured, ball-playing approach stands him in good stead at Celtic. Postecoglou certainly has an affinity for versatile footballers confident with the football at their feet.

All Nigeria Soccer say Chelsea, Tottenham and Wolves wanted Osagie before he joined West Ham from Southend United in 2020.
