David Moyes has praised Rangers after Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men beat his West Ham United side 3-1 on Tuesday night.

The Gers were ready for a real test at Ibrox as West Ham offered quality Premier League opposition.

After a goalless first half, Rangers really blew West Ham way in the second period.

New signing Tom Lawrence opened the scoring before Ryan Kent added a second from the left-hand side of the box.

Rabbi Matondo made it 3-0 with a powerful strike before Tomas Soucek handed West Ham a consolation.

David Moyes has praised Rangers

This was an impressive victory and performance from Rangers, who will be delighted to see two new faces on the scoresheet in Lawrence and Matondo.

West Ham are no pushovers and had virtually a full-strength side out; it may only be pre-season, but this was superb from Rangers.

This game could have been the Europa League final just a couple of months ago so Rangers will be very, very happy with the win.

There will of course be big challenges to come; the title battle with Celtic is on the horizon, as is the Champions League qualifier against Union Saint-Gilloise from Belgium.

Rangers have been praise for their performance though as West Ham boss David Moyes offered his post-match comments.

Speaking to West Ham’s official website, Moyes suggested that Rangers were just ‘better, quicker and sharper’ than his Hammers side.

Moyes felt that Rangers looked sharper mentally, which is huge praise for Van Bronckhorst’s players.

Moyes added that his players were slow with their pressing and decision-making, admitting that it was disappointing to turn in such a drab display when they knew Rangers would be a difficult proposition.

“Look, it was always going to be a difficult game, there’s no doubt about that, but I’m disappointed with a lot of elements of the game and things that we did,” said Moyes.

“Rangers looked better, quicker, sharper tonight. I think they looked sharper in their head as much as anything and they played better than we did. We were slow to press, slow in our decision making, so I didn’t see it as being a good team performance at all tonight,” he added.

Rangers face another London team this weekend as they welcome Tottenham to Ibrox, and they will be hoping for another great display.
