Speaking on the Transfer Talk Podcast, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has been discussing Youri Tielemans’ situation.

The Belgian midfielder looked set to leave Leicester City this summer. In fact, Fabrizio Romano claimed back in February that the midfielder would definitely be leaving the Foxes.

However, here we are three weeks into July and no move has materialised for Tielemans.

Arsenal have been credited with an interest, but as of yet, nothing has come to fruition on that front, and as we tick closer to deadline day, this situation becomes more and more intriguing.

According to Sheth, Tielemans is actually set to have a meeting with Brendan Rodgers about his future this week.

What’s been said?

Romano spoke about Tielemans’ situation.

“One player that Arsenal have had a long-term interest in is Youri Tielemans. He has just one year left on his contract and we’ve been told that Tielemans will sit down with Brendan Rodgers this week to discuss his future, so far he’s refused any new deals with Leicester City. That is one to watch as we close in on deadline day,” Sheth said.

Has to push

If Tielemans wants to leave Leicester City this summer then he has to push for an exit in this meeting with Rodgers this week.

Tielemans has put himself in the shop window so far, but as of yet, nothing concrete has come of his efforts to get out of the East Midlands.

A meeting with the manager where he makes his stance clear could be that last push he needs to finally get what he wants.

Of course, whether or not Arsenal firm up their interest remains to be seen, but if Tielemans really wants this move, they’d be foolish not to at least make a bid for the midfielder.
