Arsenal want Arthur Melo but seemingly face a battle with Valencia – who also want to sign Gunners ace Lucas Torreira.

The Gunners were heavily linked with Arthur during the January transfer window.

The Athletic reported that Edu actually agreed an 18-month loan deal for Arthur with an option to buy at around £33.5million.

Other Arsenal decision-makers vetoed the deal though, seemingly believing that the deal wasn’t right for Arsenal.

Sure enough though, Arthur is once again being linked with a move to North London.

Arsenal want Arthur Melo

Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this month that Arsenal had opened talks with Juventus about a potential deal for Arthur.

Juventus are hoping to offload Arthur this season and Edu is seemingly back in the mix.

Arthur cost Juventus a huge £66million back in 2020, but Massimiliano Allegri now wants to get rid of the Brazilian this summer.

Whilst being tabbed as ‘sensational’ by former Italy star Antonio Cassano, Arthur hasn’t quite lived up to his billing at Juve.

A move away this summer seems to be the sensible choice, but Arsenal may now face a battle with Valencia.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Valencia have made contact over a potential deal to sign Arthur.

New Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso wants a new midfielder and is now turning to Arthur as a potential signing.

This comes after Valencia ironically targeted an Arsenal midfielder to bolster their ranks.

Lucas Torreira’s agent claims that there is an agreement in place for the Uruguayan to join Valencia, but no deal yet with Arsenal.

Another strange angle to this chase is that Arsenal are allegedly willing to send Torreira to Juventus – in a swap deal for Arthur!

Arsenal, Juventus and Valencia are intertwined in the situations surrounding Arthur and Torreira, with decisions on both players surely coming soon.
