Liverpool talent Marcelo Pitaluga joined Macclesfield and is now earning major praise off the back of his performances.

Loan moves are vital for any young Liverpool player; just look at how Sepp van den Berg excelled at Preston North End last season.

Harvey Elliott went out on loan to Blackburn Rovers during the 2020-21 campaign and his rise into first-team reckoning shows what a loan deal can do.

Not everybody can head straight into Championship loan moves though; some have to drop into non-league to get their taste of first-team action.

One such player is goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga, who has dropped down to Northern Premier League Division One West – level eight of the English football pyramid.

The Brazilian talent may not have been expecting to play at that kind of level when he joined Liverpool from Fluminense in 2020.

Pitaluga, 19, was considered to be one of the top young goalkeeping talents in Brazil when Liverpool swooped in.

Alisson Becker is understood to be a big fan of Pitaluga and Liverpool will be hoping to have another star Brazilian stopper in their ranks.

For now though, Pitaluga is calling Macclesfield home and will be hoping to play plenty of first-team football there.

Robbie Savage is Macclesfield’s sporting director and he is hoping to drive this reformed club back to where predecessors Macclesfield Town once stood.

Signing PItaluga is one move made with that goal in mind and it appears that the teenager is impressing down at Moss Rose.

Macclesfield faced York City at home on Saturday afternoon, playing a pre-season friendly against the Minstermen.

Macclesfield coasted to an impressive 4-0 victory with Pitaluga receiving major praise.

Pitaluga was named Man of the Match for Macclesfield as they took to Twitter to hail him for another clean sheet.

This is exactly what Liverpool wanted from this loan spell and Pitaluga will hopefully return to Anfield all the better for it in 2023.
