Orel Mangala’s agent has played down talk of a move away from Stuttgart with Premier League trio West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest all interested, speaking to SWR Sport.

Despite some heavy spending in the window, West Ham, Palace and Forest are far from done yet.

All three clubs remain in the market for an energetic central midfielder. And Mangala – 24-year-old Belgium international renowned for his all-action style and box-to-box ability – certainly fits the bill.

According to BILD, Mangala is keen on a move to England. Stuttgart’s £13 million asking price is far from unreasonable either. Particularly when you consider that West Ham’s other target – Lille’s Amadou Onana – would cost in excess of £30 million.

Is Orel Mangala staying in the Bundesliga?

But Mehmet Eser, Mangala’s representative, insists that a prolonged stay at the Mercedes Benz Arena cannot be ruled out.

“Orel can imagine staying in Stuttgart. VfB have a strong team that can attack next season,” Eser says.

“There are clubs that want to sign him. But you have to respect the contract at Stuttgart (his deal expires in 2024).

“If VfB are ready to sell him, then we have to talk. We’ve always been treated well here by the presidency and the coaching staff.”

Eser adds that, as things stand, the Qatar World Cup is at the front of Mangala’s mind. The former Borussia Dortmund, Anderlecht and Hamburg youngster will only leave Stuttgart for a club capable of offering him regular first-team football; A must if he wants to force his way into Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad.

“Orel needs playing time. The World Cup is his goal,” Eser explains.

“For the next step, the perspective of the project must be right. The money is secondary.”
