Speaking on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Simon Jordan has responded when asked if West Ham United should be in for Anthony Martial.

The French striker spent the second half of last season out on loan at Sevilla, and after his return to Manchester United he may well be back on the market.

West Ham, of course, need a new striker. After all, Michail Antonio is their only senior recognised number nine at the moment, and one fan wanted to know Jordan’s opinion on a potential move to the London Stadium for Martial.

The pundit was far from impressed by this suggestion, stating that the Hammers should steer well clear of Martial.

What’s been said?

Jordan spoke about Martial and West Ham.

“I would say absolutely not, on what basis? What has he done for Manchester United? What did he do when he went out on loan? What does his attitude appear to be like? He is one to keep at arms’ length or more to the point he’s one to steer well clear of. David Moyes is no fool, his coaching staff behind him are no fools. If they can see something in this boy that is great, you can make the argument, but for me Martial is one I would send anywhere in a cab,” Jordan said.

Doesn’t suit West Ham

An overpaid, underperforming striker with a bit of an ego. Martial is exactly the type of player West Ham don’t need right now.

Is Martial talented enough to be a star for the Hammers? Of course he is, but this team isn’t necessarily about having superstars.

Indeed, David Moyes’ side are at their best when everyone is pulling in the same direction and working their socks off. The likes of Craig Dawson, Michail Antonio and Pablo Fornals aren’t necessarily the best players in the world, but they give their all for this West Ham team, and Moyes’ sides are at the best when they’re filled with players in that mould.

Martial isn’t that player and as Jordan says, the Hammers would be better off looking elsewhere.
