Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura has praised Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers on the club’s official website ahead of the pre-season friendly match at Ibrox on Saturday.

Premier League club Tottenham and Scottish Premiership side Rangers will face each other in a pre-season friendly match at Ibrox today.

Ahead of the match, Tottenham’s £25 million (Sky Sports) Brazil international winger Lucas Moura has praised Rangers.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Lucas Moura on Rangers

The Brazilian told Tottenham’s official website: “This is another big test for us, a big team. I know a little bit of the rivalry between England and Scotland, so it will be interesting!

“The most important thing is to be ready; it doesn’t matter if it’s a pre-season game, we need to go there and do our jobs, do our best and the best way to prepare for the season is to play to win the game and that’s what we’re going to do.

“I’m sure for Rangers it’s a good opportunity as well. They played in the Europa League Final so it’s a good game for us, an interesting game. Let’s do our best.”

Encouraging for the Gers

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura praising Rangers is very encouraging for Scottish football.

Now, we know that the Scottish Premiership is not at the level of the Premier League.

However, Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have a massive fanbase.

It is very encouraging to see an established Premier League player such as Moura playing for a big club such as Tottenham speak so highly of Rangers.

It shows the respect that players all over have for Rangers, who reached the UEFA Europa League final last season.

Rangers will be aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title next season as well as qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
